How did Araneo come to be?

Araneo was founded as Brewer Network Services Limited in October of 2003 in order to fill an unmet need in New Zealand for unbundled last-mile broadband delivery. In June of 2004 Araneo Limited was incorporated by directors Jonathan Brewer and Timothy Martin. Since that time Araneo has become a "last 10k" provider, bringing broadband from existing fibre and DMR connections to commercial, education, industrial, and residential areas lacking either resources or competitive access to existing infrastructure.

Since its inception, Araneo has been incubated at the NRG Trust Enterprise Incubator. Araneo has also received mentoring and business development assistance from T-Up, the Technology Entreprenuer Centre, and has participated in NZT&E's Biz-Fuel programme.

In one short year Araneo has formed close partnerships with a number of alternative telecommunications providers, and is today delivering traffic to customers of DTS, E:Centric, FX Networks, Globe Net, Wise Net, and Xtreme Networks. Araneo has also formed alliances with providers Knossos Networks and OneSquared, and is actively seeking new partnerships.
